Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, a brand new exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Titanic with recovered artifacts and more, is now open at the Mahaffey Theater in Downtown St. Petersburg.

Shown throughout the world to over 25 million people in its existence, the exhibition tells the story of the Titanic's first and final voyage through salvaged artifacts and personal items used by the crew and passengers.

These artifacts were salvaged by RMS Titanic, Inc., the only organization allowed to recover artifacts from the Titanic wreck site and the brains behind this amazing exhibit.  Despite being inside the Mahaffey Theater, RMS Titanic officials say this is very much a museum exhibit.

Inside the exhibition, guests can see and learn about 165 different artifacts including various personal items like clothing, letters, the ship's gold-plated chandelier, preserved dishes and china, a porthole with a cracked window, and more.

Guests at the exhibition will receive a replica boarding pass allowing them to "board" before taking an expansive audio tour throughout the Mahaffey beginning with the Titanic's construction and ending with its unfortunate demise at the hand of an Atlantic Ocean iceberg on April 15, 1912.

In addition to the artifacts, there will also be a handful of interactive features at the exhibition including the most recent pictures and 3-D video of the Titanic wreck site taken in 2010, videos showing the cameras and vehicles utilized in the recovery efforts, and more.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will be on display at the Mahaffey Theater through March 3.  The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Tickets are a fitting $19.12 for adults, $17.50 for seniors, $16.50 for youth, and $15 for children.  For more information, visit themahaffey.com.
