When someone in the 727area says that we live where you vacation, it's no joke! With so many amazing beaches, museums, and attractions in our area, it's no wonder we're a top travel destination.

Next time you find yourself itching for a getaway, consider enjoying one right in your own backyard. These staycation ideas in St. Petersburg and Clearwater are sure to leave you feeling recharged and with a renewed appreciation for your area.

Beach Day

No need to head to the airport to go to one of the nation's top beaches- we've got sandy gems right in our backyard! Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, and Pass-A-Grille Beach all offer breathtaking views, miles of beautiful sandy beaches, and charming beach towns. If you want to go all out on your beach day, consider parasailing or taking a Helicopter Tour of Clearwater Beach.

Spa Day

Nothing says staycation like pampering yourself with a spa day! The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa provides a relaxing retreat with a diverse spa menu just steps away from charming downtown Safety Harbor. If you're in the southern part of the 727area, you can head to  The Woodhouse Day Spa in St. Petersburg.

Theme Parks

The 727area is just hours from some of the nation's best theme parks in Orlando, but we've got great ones right here in our area, too! Instead of leaving the area to head to Disney or Orlando, try heading over to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay.

If you're feeling extra adventurous or want to switch up the rollercoaster routine, Empower Adventures Zip On! is a great alternative where you can zipline and play on a high ropes course.

Food Tour

St. Petersburgs's food scene is booming, and, even if you're a local, it can be hard to keep up with all of the new restaurants popping up in the city. A food tour is a perfect way to get a fresh taste for the 727area. Eat St. Pete offers three different walking food tours through the city of St. Petersburg.

Brewery Tour

With so many outstanding craft breweries throughout the 727area, going on a brewery tour is the perfect way to play local tourist. Gather a group of friends and book the Pedal Pub to cruise around Downtown St. Pete's brewery scene on a bike for eight to 48! If you'd rather enjoy an air-conditioned bus and avoid exercising in between stops, Brew Tours by Thirsty Pelican is the best option for you.

Mural Tour

It seems as though everywhere you turn in St. Petersburg, there's art to be seen. It can be hard to find all of the murals tucked around the Sunshine City's streets, but exploring them with a tour guide makes it simple!

Florida CraftArt offers walking mural tours on Saturday mornings as well as an online mural map if you'd rather stroll solo. If you prefer a faster pace, sign up for their monthly mural biking tour. No bike? No problem- borrow one from Coast Bike Share!

Kayak Tour

Coastal Kayak Charters in Pass-a-Grille beach provides guided kayaking tours out of various locations in the St. Pete Beach area. You can paddle through mangrove tunnels on the Shell Key Preserve tour or catch a twilight or sunset tour for some spectacular views.

Live Entertainment

The St. Petersburg/Clearwater area has so many amazing venues for live entertainment whether it's comedy, music, or theater. You can head to Spitfire Theater in the Grand Central District of St. Pete for improv, see what's playing this weekend at Ruth Eckerd Hall, catch a show at Jannus Live, or see a play at American Stage Theatre Company.

When you live in paradise, every day off feels like a staycation! From beaches to breweries, the 727area has something for everyone.
