As a city waist-deep in the arts, it's not surprising that St. Petersburg has a variety of places to catch a play around town.  Seeing a play live and in the flesh in an experience like no other and a great way to observe and support the arts in this beautiful, eclectic city of ours.

American Stage Theatre Company has been doing plays in St. Petersburg for over 30 years now and is definitely the organization you want to look towards if you're seeking some great theater in St. Pete.

Located in the Raymond James building at the corner of 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue North in Downtown St. Pete, American Stage presents plays year-round in its state of the art 182-seat theater.  This definitely isn't a huge performance hall, but seeing a play in a setting as intimate as this is so much better.  You see and hear all the action right in a way a huge theater just can't.

Past productions at American Stage include Driving Miss Daisy, Fences, Hair, Reefer Madness and a number of other well-known plays throughout history.  American Stage is consistently voted as one of the best theater companies in the Tampa Bay Area and their attention to creating great, live stories is second to none.

Single performance tickets as well as season passes are both available for purchase at the American Stage box office.   Single performance tickets range in price from $29 to $50 for an opening night ticket.  Student rush tickets are also available 30 minutes before the performance for a mee $10.  Not too bad.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, head to American Stage and catch a great play at this one of a kind theater in Downtown St. Pete.
