Well, add one more to the list when it comes to great, far from the norm dining in Downtown St. Petersburg.  Spice Routes Cafe, a staple at the beloved Saturday Morning Market and their small digs inside the First Unity Church has now open the doors to their newest location inside the Morean Arts Center in Downtown St. Petersburg.

Described as "global comfort food" the cuisine at Spice Routes is an eclectic assortment of soups, salads, sandwiches and more born from regions across the world including the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

Just on reputation alone, this place seems pretty solid.  Head chef and owner, Julie Staunko created the now ubur-popular Saturday Morning Market in Downtown St. Pete back in 2002 as a place where residents in and around St. Petersburg could meet up and socialize as well as browse a ton of unique vendors peddling items from produce to herbs, cheeses, prepared foods and much more.  She's been in the business cooking and catering for nearly 20 years, so it's probably safe to say she knows her way around a great plate of food.

Menu items at Spice Routes Cafe include platters (great for groups) like the Peruvian tuna platter - albacore tuna sandwiched between Yukon Gold potatoes with olive and a hint of lime, a side of pickled onion and salad - sandwiches including a heavenly-sounding meatloaf sandwich with meatloaf, herbed mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion, as well as a variety of deserts, coffee, tea, beer, wine and more.

If you're around the Downtown St. Pete area check out the new Spice Routes Cafe at the Morean Arts Center for some affordable, quick global comfort food.
