All of the real foodies of St. Pete already know that Downtown St. Pete has some of the best grub on the West Coast of Florida. But with hundreds of restaurants to choose from, where do you go when you’re in the mood for some real foodie food? Well, we’re here to solve that problem for you! Check out our list of the best foodie destinations in St. Pete

Better Byrd

Looking to find fried chicken that compares to Publix? I promise, after a single trip to Better Byrd, you’ll be craving more in no time! Stop by this fried chicken haven for lunch or dinner to try CRG’s salty and flavorful fried chicken. They serve bowls, sandwiches, wraps and wings! No matter what kind of fried chicken you’re in the mood for, Better Byrd has it ready to go!

Datz

One of Tampa’s favorite foodie destinations just opened their doors right off of Central Ave in DTSP! Everything they serve is impeccable but my go-to is the Cluck Yeah fried chicken sandwich with a side of their jalapeno bacon mac and cheese. They also have great brunch items and cocktails if you’re looking to splurge! They don’t call themselves @DatsforFoodies on Instagram for nothing!

Brick & Mortar

This rustic-chic nook with seasonal, New American fare, is hidden in the middle of DTSP! With Instagram foodies going wild over their modern American food, they keep busy every night of the week. They serve unique wines and craft beers to go along with their signature dishes. Plus, they offer outdoor seating so you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. My suggestion is to try their grilled octopus with a charcuterie board to start! Both go great with a perfect wine pairing.

The Mill

After becoming so successful in DTSP, this foodie destination has all of Tampa Bay going crazy for their tasty New American bites. But, their food fare is extra-special because of the southern spin they put on it. They also have fabulous craft cocktails on their happy hour menu! Some of their best dishes are their watermelon bruschetta and the pork belly baguette.

The Lure

Looking for some kick-ass sushi? Well, The Lure will satisfy all of your fresh fish needs! This funky restaurant in Downtown St. Pete is the go-to destination for sushi, tacos, small plates and flatbreads with tiki cocktails and craft beer. They won Tampa Bay Sushi Battle this year and after trying all of the sushi at the battle, I can tell you that I gave them my vote!

Noble Crust

Noble Crust puts a spin on your traditional Italian and Southern dishes! So if you’re in the mood for artisan pizza, Noble Crust is the premier destination in St. Pete. Stop by for their fried green tomato BLT or lemon ricotta pancakes for a sweet and savory brunch on the weekends.

Red Mesa - Cantina, Restaurant, Mercado, etc.

I’ve been to a few of the Red Mesa Locations over the years and each time I go, my plate is left completely empty. It’s not because they don’t serve proper portions, because they do! It’s because their food is so tasty, I can never leave with extra room in my tummy. I recently tried the Mojo Verde burrito from Red Mesa Cantina and it was the best burrito I’ve eaten in a while. Forget about Chipotle, try Red Mesa for some authentic Mexican food instead!

Bodega

Ah, my favorite Cuban sandwich in all of Tampa Bay! Bodega on Central has some of the tastiest and most authentic Cuban food in the area. With a second location in Seminole Heights, this modern eatery is taking over the bay. My suggestion for the perfect order is: one Cuban sandwich with mustard and spicy mayo on it and maduros, or sweet plantains, on the side! I add spicy mayo to everything at Bodega because it’s the most delicious aioli!

Stillwaters Tavern

If you’re in the mood for a slightly fancier American fare, check out Stillwaters Tavern. Stillwaters Tavern is an attractive space for hearty yet elevated American fare with a strong beer and cocktail list. Try their bao buns, Key West pink shrimp and grits or smoked brisket melt and you’ll be craving them again in no time.

No Vacancy

This vacation-themed bar is known for their Instagram-worthy cocktails, but did you know they have some delicious bites as well? Head to No Vacancy for kick-ass Cuban’s or Under the Sea nachos. They also serve brunch items, sandwiches and tacos for you to enjoy. Stop by and feel like you’re on vacation as soon as you enter!

Buya Ramen

Buya Ramen has my favorite ramen soup in Tampa Bay! With delicious appetizers to start off your meal, you are guaranteed to leave full. For a hearty and delicious bowl of warm ramen soup, stop by for their lunch special and you can try a bowl of ramen and bao buns for just $13. Food Network has even done a spotlight on Buya Ramen, so you know it’s a foodie must-try!
