Only two days left to sort out your St. Pete/Clearwater New Year's Eve plans! There's something for everyone in Pinellas County, from romantic dinners for two, to beachside bashes, to family-friendly events, and classical concerts. And you can wear everything from a bathing suit to a ball gown, with all kinds of price points, food options, and entertainment in between. Here are just a few of our favorite New Year's events in St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the rest of the 727area.
Ring in New Year’s 2018 with your toes in the sand at the Don Cesar on St. Pete Beach. The party kicks off at 9:00 p.m. and runs until 1:00 a.m. New Year’s Bash at The Beach will have one of the Bay Area's best live DJ's to get you up and dancing all the way into 2018. You can relax by their oceanfront fire tables, or dance the night away on the fireplace patio. Tickets are all-inclusive with food, drink, and a champagne toast for $116.82 in advance or $125 at the door. Cocktail attire recommended. Dress to impress -- it's the Don CeSar!
This downtown St. Pete New Year's party is the largest family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration in Florida. The fun begins at 4:00 p.m. across more than a dozen venues -- there's so much happening, we can't even try and list it all. Buttons are required for some events. They're available in local retailers and at the event itself, priced at $15 for adults, $10 for kids aged 6-12, and free for 5 and under. If your kids can't hang in there until midnight for fireworks, don't worry! There's also a fireworks show at 8:00 p.m., so you can get the little ones to bed on time.
Watch 2017 turn into 2018 on a 10th floor rooftop bar, atop the Pier House 60 Marina Hotel. Arrive in time for the sunset over panoramic views of Clearwater Beach and the Gulf of Mexico. Then the party begins at 7:00 p.m. The cover charge is just $10, and there's complimentary champagne and party favors just in time to watch the Times Square ball drop on Clearwater Beach's biggest video wall!
2018 New Year's Eve Cruise aboard The Sir Winston
Want to celebrate a nautical new year? How about a New Year's Eve celebration aboard a luxury ship from Sir Winston Cruises? This all-inclusive party boards at 9:30 p.m. and sets sail at 10:00 p.m. for a three-hour party tour. Your ticket comes with a boarding photo, a four-course gourmet buffet, dessert, DJ, fireworks, beverages, champagne at midnight underneath the fireworks in downtown St. Petersburg... what more could you possibly need? Tickets are still available for $149, plus taxes and cruise fees. This is an upscale event -- guys, get out your jackets, and ladies, wear your cocktail attire.
Park & Rec, The Avenue Eat + Drink, and the rest of Hunger + Thirst Group join forces to throw a New Year's Eve block party in downtown St. Petersburg. There's music by DJ fresh and other certified fresh DJs, plus a photo booth, champagne toast at midnight, $50 champagne bottles, and all three venues open for food, drink, and fun. This block party will have someone for everyone, and it's not far from the big fireworks show over the water in St. Pete.
Get out the cummerbunds and corsages! Mastry's Brewing Co on St. Pete Beach combines the great memories of a New Year's party with the awkward memories of your nightmarish high school prom. Mastry's will have new beers on tap, PB & Jelly Deli will have their truck on site from 5-10 p.m., and DJ Fisher The Man will spin the tunes from 6 p.m. through midnight.
At some point you may have asked yourself, "Why don't they just build the whole New Year's Eve party out of the champagne toast?" Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe on Central Avenue finally delivers with this black-tie event, featuring a champagne flight tasting of Gruet Brut, Mercat Brut Rose Cava, Cardinal Blanc de Blanc, and Medici Lambrusco, plus special beer tastings and their top-notch deli menu.
Dine in style in downtown St. Pete on New Year's Eve. Tryst Gastro Lounge is open regular hours and offers a special New Year's Eve dinner menu. You can enjoy their regular bar bites menu plus a four-course prix fixe dinner for $60... and when you do the prix fixe, you can also get a bottle of Piper Heidsieck Brut for $45 more. Or if you call 727-821-4567 to reserve it, you can get a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label and truffle fries for $60! Watch the 8:00 p.m. First Night fireworks while you start your memorable St. Pete New Year's Eve with a memorable meal.
The Hollander Hotel wants to get your New Year's Eve off to a flying start, with dinner and live music from the perhaps unfortunately named S.O.L. Band. The Hollander will offer their regular menu, or you can choose their New Year's Eve special for two. This event wraps up before midnight so you have time to make the short walk to the St. Pete Bayfront for the big midnight fireworks show.
If you brought the family to warm, sunny St. Pete Beach for New Year's (and by the way, good call -- have you seen the weather up north?), you may already know what the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort is offering this weekend. For everyone else, you can get two nights' accommodations for two adults at a discount, plus two adult tickets to their New Year's Eve Party and Buffet "Toast by the Coast,” with music by Motel Funk. A Teen New Year's Eve Party (ages 13-17) and a Kids Celebration (ages 4-12) each run from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on the 31st, but be aware they are not part of the adult package. For reservations, call the Adventure Center at 727-363-2294 (or extension 6020 during your stay).
It's a two-part New Year's celebration at Ocean Hai, inside the Wyndham Grand Clearwater Beach. The special prix fixe menu includes six(!) courses, including a starter, appetizer, champagne sorbet intermezzo, your choice of five fantastic entrees, cheese board, and dessert. Eat early to save a little money, or eat later to get admission to the Grand Glow Party on the Pool Deck. (You can also attend the party separately.) The party offers a live DJ, dancing, food, beverage tickets, a balloon drop, and the customary midnight champagne toast. This party also has a Kids Zone with movies, games, and food for younger palates.
The Kimpton Hotel Zamora on St. Pete Beach offers another all-in-one New Year's celebration. Enjoy a $65 four-course prix fixe dinner at Castile restaurant between 5-11 p.m., then head up to the 360 Rooftop bar from 8 p.m. to midnight for a live DJ, music, the ball drop, and fireworks. No cover charge!

A New Year's Eve tradition in Clearwater, Ruth Eckerd Hall offers up an evening of operetta, ballroom dancing, ballet, and music, inspired by Vienna's cherished New Year's Concert. Tickets range from $35 to $100, with a $135 VIP package offering a premium seat and an exclusive meet and greet with the performers after the show.
Is this in Pinellas County? Well... maybe? But it's on the water on the Causeway, and James Bond never let things like arbitrary borders stop him. Dress to kill for a 007/James Bond themed party with a live DJ, casino game room (baccarat, anyone?), some midnight waterfront fireworks, and plenty more. Open bar and hors d'oeurves starting at 10 p.m., and all for a Ben Franklin: $100.
Tampa Bay Club Sport does lots of pub crawls, but this one is a pregame for NYE in downtown St. Pete! Five bars open their doors early, and for your $15 fee you'll get 5 free drinks to start the day off correctly. But if you're starting this early, you very well might need...
