I highly recommend checking out Fort De Soto Park. They have beautiful beaches, hiking trails, places to picnic, fishing and so much more. Spend a whole day at Fort De Soto.
Pros: The scenery is amazing, beautiful beaches and the park is a great place to go when you want to get away from all the congestion of Clearwater and St Petersburg. Plenty of options for spending the whole day at Fort De Soto Park.
Cons: The dog beach is sometimes over crowded.

Such a great place to bring the kids and your dogs! The beach is perfect for everyone but especially your dogs. It is such a nice beach with such a great park.

Easy access and lots of options for play - biking, swimming and a dog park too!

I go a lot for the dog beach because there is a LARGE fenced in dog park and the dog beach is the best! There are great dogs there and people take pride in the beach so it is clean. I haven't gone camping there yet but want to go so bad. Make sure to make reservations, though, because they book up a lot. Some months require reservations 3 months out!
Pros: Something free to do and offers all kinds of outdoor recreation from kayaking, hiking, running and biking trails to dog beach and more.
Cons: Far from my house and tolls to get there but it is well worth it.
