The Force Is Strong With This Exhibit

Are you going to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi when it opened in theaters everywhere today? Make it a Star Wars Weekend and head to the Museum of Fine Arts to explore the Star Wars and the Power of Costume in St. Petersburg, where the exhibit is currently on display.

You can see all of your favorite characters' costumes with over 60 on display. From R2-D2 and C-3PO to Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, they're all on display and will be now through April 1st. There's also props from the films as well as the concept art that helped mold each iconic costume in the series.

For the fans who can stomach the prequels, the exhibit will also have the Throne Room Gown worn by Queen Amidala among others. (Thankfully not Jar-Jar Binks)

The costumes make the character and with this exhibit, you'll see what it took to make each character come to life.

The exhibition includes seven sections in addition to an introduction area full of images and an overview video. The sections are: Jedi vs. Sith: Form, Function, and Design; Outlaws and Outsiders: Meaning of Disguises; Royalty: Materials and Fabrics; Symbolism and Military Power; The Senate: All Corners of the Galaxy; After the Throne: Padme’s Journey (Haute Couture); Darth Vader: Concept to Final Creation; and Building the Droids: Design Beyond Fabric.

The museum has anticipated a high demand for tickets so it's suggested to buy early. They are utilizing a "timed-ticket" where guests go at a particular time and date, so if you buy a ticket for December 22 at 3 p.m., you won't be allowed into the exhibit until 3 p.m. But once inside guests can stay for as long or as little as they would like, so hint-hint, get as early a time as you can. The Museum of Fine Arts recognizes life can get in the way and will be happy to place you into the next available time slot on that date if you are not a member, but keep in mind tickets are nonrefundable.

Ticket prices start at $25, but include access to the entire museum during your visit.
