Now that the warm summer months are right upon us, no time seems better than right now when it comes to getting out there and taking part in a great community event.  If you're in or around St. Petersburg, check out May Music and Movies in the Park.

Taking place each Thursday throughout the month of May, this FREE and family-friendly event in North Straub Park will feature a screening of a classic, hit movie, live music, and local vendors from St. Pete's beloved Saturday Morning Market.

This week's May Music and Movies in the Park will kick off at 7 p.m. and feature the 1987 Patrick Swayze classic, Dirty Dancing.

Come early to purchase food and drink from all the Saturday Morning Market Vendors, stay for a little live, local music, then kick back and enjoy Dirty Dancing when it's shown on the beach side of the park once it's dark.

There will be a limited amount of chairs available, so bringing your own blanket or seat might be a good idea.  Convenient parking can be found in the Baywalk garage or in the Pier parking lots, both just a short walk away.

The rest of the 2012 May Music and Movies in the Park will feature...

May 17 - Rear Window (1954)

May 24 - Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

May 31 - Ferris Bueller's Day off (1986)

May Music and Movies in the Park is presented by the St. Pete Preservation Society, a volunteer non- profit and charitable 501(c)3 organization working to preserve St. Petersburg’s important sites and structures by encouraging thoughtful growth that honors the city's past and fosters an appreciation of St. Petersburg’s shared heritage and culture.
