The Chihuly Collection made quite the splash in and around St. Pete when it opened its doors in the 400 Beach Drive tower just about a year ago.  Art enthusiasts flocked from St. Pete, surrounding areas, and across the bay to see all new work from world-renowned glass sculptor and entrepeneur, Dale Chihuly.

The various sculptures were a sight to behold and a welcome addition to the prolific St. Petersburg art scene.  The Morean Arts Center, the company who sponsored and brought the collection here, is now able to expand its network after being on the verge of financial collapse right before the collection opened.  Talk about the power of art and expression.

This can be attributed to the over 120,000 people who've visited the exhibit since it premiered last July.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Chihuly collection in St. Pete and the helping hand its lent to the Arts Center, Morean will host the Chihuly Collection One-Year Anniversary Celebration on July 16th.

During the day, you'll be able to buy a beach ball, write your own personal love note to St. Pete, and hang it in Straub Park for the entire city to see.  Proceeds from beachball purchases will go directly to educational programs at the Morean Arts Center.

At night, a procession will take place starting at 400 Beach and traveling down to park.  Watch fire dancers and drummers as they make their way down to the park to celebrate this awesome anniversary.

Mark it down on your calendars, St. Pete.  The Chihuly Collection One-Year Anniversary Celebration is sure to be a fun one.
