New Port Richey Main Street, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization that is a part of the Florida Main Street program. What does a Main Street program do for the community? NPRMS assists with development, activities, recognition and bringing improved economy to the historic downtown area through a variety of methods… •Coordinates downtown improvements. •Creates a positive image to attract customers and investors. •Rekindles community pride. •Enhances the visual quality of the downtown environment. •Attracts strategic additions to the economic mix. •Organizes community events. •Enhances the cultural atmosphere of our downtown. Why Main Street Program Works: Main Street uses a Four Step Process which helps to bring about dramatic, positive change by encouraging economic development within the context of historic preservation and by creating a positive, distinctive image of New Port Richey. The Main Street Four Step Process includes key teams: 1.ORGANIZATION: (or Membership) Work with public and private sector community leaders to develop consensus and coordinate resources to revitalize Downtown. 2.PROMOTION: Create and market a positive image of Downtown through special events, retail sales, effective advertising and public relations campaigns. 3.DESIGN: Encourage quality building rehabilitation, signage, public improvements and window displays to improve appearance of Downtown. 4.ECONOMIC RESTRUCTURING: Improve the economic base
