The new Pier in St. Pete is becoming more of a reality by the day.  Case in point; the legendary Tampa Bay Spanish eatery, the Columbia Restaurant announced that it would open its newest location in futuristic "the lens"-designed Pier when it opens in the summer of 2015, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The announcement came earlier today as St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster and Columbia Restaurant Owner Richard Gonzmart revealed the plans to open a new, 7,300-square-foot location with outdoor seating and more at the new Pier.

As many may know, The Columbia's been a bar and restaurant anchor at the current Pier structure which was built in 1973 and will soon face demolition to make way for the new, ovular Pier structure.  Much like the new Pier, the new Columbia Restaurant will get a multi-million dollar facelift of its own with a modern design, outdoor seating for 100 overlooking the water, a longstanding menu of traditional Spanish cuisine, and a handful of other new amenities.

We'll keep you posted as more news arises regarding the new Pier in St. Pete and The Columbia Restaurant.
