The 2012 St. Pete Oktoberfest will return to the streets of Downtown St. Petersburg's Grand Central District on Friday and Saturday, October 19-20 for a weekend of delicious beer, authentic eats, and great live entertainment.

Oktoberfest will kick off on Friday, October 19 with the Homebrewer's Challenge going down at the Morean Center for Clay at the Old Train Station located at 420 22nd St. S.  The challenge will pit a number of local, homebrewing clubs against each other in a taste competition with categories like Brown Ale, Spiced/Pumpkin beer, German Hefeweizen, Oktoberfest, and Stout.

Tickets to the Homebrewer's Challenge (separate from other Oktoberfest events) are $45 and include samples of all the beers, food from local restaurants, live music from the John Kelley Band, and more from 7 to 10 p.m.

St. Pete Oktoberfest really kicks into gear on Saturday, October 20 when the area surrounding 2200 Central Avenue in the Grand Central District transform into one of the biggest and best Oktoberfest celebrations in the area.  Guests will be able to enjoy beer samples crafted by great breweries from Florida and beyond as well as live entertainment from Damon Fowler, the Bobby Lee Rodgers Trio, and Serotonic all throughout the day.  The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. and last until 10.

Tickets to Oktoberfest are $25 in advance and $35 at the gate.  For the full experience, guests can spring for Oktoberfest Experience tickets which get you admission into both Friday and Saturday's festivities as well as a limited edition St. Pete Oktoberfest t-shirt and a limited edition hand-blown beer glass courtesy of Zen Glass for $100.  Normal 2-day passes without the shirt or glass are $55 in advance.
