Joining a number of independently-operated craft breweries popping, or soon to pop up in Downtown St. Petersburg, the brand-new Cycle Brewing opened its doors for the first time Thursday evening, Creative Loafing reports.

Offering six new craft beers on tap, Cycle Brewing takes a DIY approach to each of their craft beers with unique names like The Dude Porter, Fixie American IPA, and Ryerish Red - all thought up, brewed, and poured by Cycle Brewing owner/brewmaster Doug Dozark.

Cycle - located at 534 Central Ave. - opened its tasting room doors  for the first time Thursday night, offering a varied spread of six original brews on tap including The Dude Porter, Freewheel IPA, Fixie American IPA, Ryerish Porter, Unicycle: Motueka, and Unicycle: Wakatu for 'Burg beer lovers to try.

Cycle Brewing began as a side brew operation at Peg's Cantina before Dozark (the owners' son) decided to make brewing a full-time gig with the preparation and opening of the tasting room downtown.

It will soon join a wide assortment of new breweries set to open in the 727area within the next few months including 3 Daughters Brewing in St. Pete's Warehouse Arts District, Green Bench Brewing in Downtown St. Pete, Barlew Mow in Largo, Pair O' Dice Brewing in Clearwater, and St. Petersburg Brewing Company.
