Description

Every year, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg celebrates the holiday season with a holiday tree placed in the Great Hall. This year, the museum carries on its tradition with a new twist.

Event Details

On Thursday, November 29 from 6 to 8 p.m., renowned French sculptor and Tampa resident Dominique Labauvie will unveil an elaborate site-specific metal installation in the Great Hall, along with custom ornaments for the museum’s holiday tree.

This installation focuses on the idea of the Great Hall as the “hearth” and center of the museum building, a place of welcome where people gather. The installation will be anchored by the form of the holly leaf, a symbol of life and protection across many cultures for centuries.

During the open house, the main collection galleries will be open to the public free of charge, with tree lighting festivities, music and refreshments. Ornaments will be available for purchase, with proceeds going to the museum.
