Event Details
The Dali Museum celebrates Veterans Day in honor of our country’s courageous service members. The Museum will be recognizing veterans and active military personnel in a ceremony beginning at 11am in the Museum’s Avant Garden, with the U.S. Central Command Color Guard scheduled to appear.
Following the performance, around 11:25, volunteers and staff will read a selection of wishes left throughout the year on our Wish Tree.
After the reading, at 11:45, visitors are invited to add a wish of gratitude to the tree using red and blue ribbons in honor of this special day. The ficus tree – with its compound trunk and drooping branches – appears a tree designed by Dali, a botanical equivalent of Dali’s soft watches, a melting tree. Streaming with ribbons, the tree carries the simple and heartfelt wishes of Museum visitors throughout the year and is inspired by a cultural tradition that extends back to ancient Scottish rites. The ceremony will conclude with special musical guests (details forthcoming).
The Dali hosts a care-package drive to bring a little bit of home to those serving overseas. The community is invited to bring donation items to The Museum throughout the day, and to decorate these special “care packages” by hand. Suggested Care Package Items
Visitors are also able to pre-purchase special drinks from Cafe Gala, which will then be given free to service members with valid ID visiting the Museum.
Veterans Day admission is complimentary all day for veterans and active duty military members with valid ID, plus one guest each.
