Former New York Yankees closer, and Major League Baseball all-time saves leader, Mariano Rivera is hosting the inaugural Mariano Rivera Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic on March 10-12 at Avila Golf and Country Club, with all proceeds going to Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico.

You can join in the fun at the Mariano Rivera Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic as well, with sponsorships beginning at $2,500, and space still available for golfers as well as individuals and foursomes for the tournament as well.

Golfers will also receive a $250 travel voucher, a two-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay and a welcome party from 6-9 p.m. on March 10th. Participants will also take in a New York Yankees spring training game against the New York Mets at Steinbrenner Field on March 10th, or the PGA Tour Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Spa & Resort from the hospitality suite on Sunday, March 11th.

There will be an auction dinner beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay benefiting the Mariano Rivera Foundation directly. If you're not a golfer, you can attend just the auction dinner for $1,000. The Golf Classic on Monday, March 12 will begin with brunch at 10:00 a.m. followed by a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start at Avila, one of the nicest tracks in all of Florida.

Each foursome will have a celebrity golfer with their party. Invited celebrities include former Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez, former Tampa Bay Rays manager Lou Piniella, Tampa natives and MLB greats Tino Martinez and Gary Sheffield, Hall-of-Fame pitchers Goose Gossage and Pedro Martinez, and many more.

Rivera is well-known for his philanthropic deeds like building elementary schools, handing out Christmas gifts, and providing kids with access to computers and adult mentors in his home country of Panama. The island of Puerto Rico was hit especially hard by Maria, just weeks after Hurricane Irma ravaged the US territory. The estimated damage from Hurricane Maria to the island is roughly $8 billion, with only 55% of the power restored as of December.

If you're unable to attend the Mariano Rivera Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, you can still donate to this worthy cause via their website.
