If you're in or around St. Petersburg and haven't gotten the chance to check out the new Dali Museum, you owe it to yourself to check out this fascinating Downtown building rife with the best work from one of the great surrealist artists of the 20th century, Salvador Dali.  This museum, though, is much more than just a museum.  They host events throughout the month that foster community and advocate the arts in the city of St. Petersburg.  One of these events is the Dali & Beyond Film Series they host on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Beginning at 6 p.m. on each of these Thursdays, the event welcomes anyone and everyone to see a free film in the museum's lobby theater.  This Thursday, October 6, the Dali & Beyond Film Series will feature The Dali Dimension, a film that interviews scientists and historians to examine the influence science had on Dali and his work.

The rest of the schedule includes...

Suspiria on October 20

Destino + Dali & Disney: A Date with Destino on November 3

Conspirators of Pleasure on November 17

Gala on December 1

Dr. Seuss’s The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T on December 15

While families are welcome to some of these, it should be advised that Suspiria, Conspirators of Pleasure, and Gala are all in the R-rating range.

Refreshments will be available in Cafe Gala, but aren't permitted in the actual theater.  In conjuction with the film series, the Dali Museum will also offer discounted admission into the actual museum on Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. with $10 tickets for adults.
