Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza blows delivery out of the water. Forget small, tacky, brightly colored pie-stops with ready-made pizzas sitting in a warmer for who-knows-how-long. If you take your food seriously, either go fresh or go hungry. Try Anthony's! Once you do there is no going back.  I stopped for the first time recently having no idea how far they would raise the bar on what I expected from a pizza joint.

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Raises the Bar

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is the best option for fresh, delicious pizza and more. As a vegetarian, I first tried their roasted cauliflower pizza and was, quite frankly, shocked. When I heard “coal fired”, I was skeptical. But our stellar server, upon hearing it was our first time, quickly educated us that the ovens weren’t just for show and boy do they know how to use them!

The crust had just the right amount of char. The ingredients on our remarkable pizza were perfectly baked cauliflower, olive oil, garlic, Romano and Mozzarella cheese topped with bread crumbs, yum!  Need more?....My boyfriend (a meat-eater) enjoyed my veggie za, shock and awe! The cauliflower had the perfect consistency, the cheese stretched from your mouth to your slice and the portion was so large that we were able to share left-overs.

The meat-eater, he ordered wings after reading several online reviews raving about them. Receiving a mountain of crisp and delicious wings served with Focaccia bread on top of sweet caramelized onions he grinned, happy to join me on this assignment!

There was also a salad that night. Some might call me 'picky' when it comes to my salads, I'd us the word 'particular'.  Every item in my salad was fresh (not just good looking veg piled a top questionable ones), with the perfect amount of dressing and a fine ratio of veggies to salad. It was the freshest salad I've been served in a while and quite a surprise coming from a chain restaurant.  Let's just say Anthony's raised my expectations and made me view chains differentlyI  You can expect more, and you GET more at Anthony's.

Beau Allen, Manager of the Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Clearwater explained how his ovens reach temperatures of 800 degrees and shared a bit about the history of the chain.  Anthony Sr. worked in restaurants all his life.  Inspired by his wife and mom he opened his first restaurant on Long Island. The family moved to South Florida in 1982 where he and his son Anthony, Jr. debuted Anthony’s Runway 84, a full-service Italian restaurant and bar near the airport in Fort Lauderdale.

Before long the boys were attracting a loyal following of customers and their dreams of expansion became reality. More than three decades later, Anthony’s serves "Food done well." throughout Florida, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Beau attributes the success of Anthony's brand to a combination of top-quality ingredients, a simple, consistent menu, authentic, coal ovens and a staff that treats guests like “family.”

Anthony's takes pride in their adult beverages serving beautifully crafted, popular cocktails from the bar in a warm, inviting and clean atmosphere.
