Once a month, downtown St. Petersburg hosts one of the most exciting events in the 727 area.  They call it ‘First Friday’ due to the evening is launched the first Friday of each month on Central Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Street.  The Breakfast Optimist Club are the coordinators of First Friday which presents live music and local vendors.  Starting at 5:30 p.m. and wrapping up around 10 p.m. everyone can enjoy food, drinks, music and even the freshest oysters around town from “Central Avenue Seafood and Oyster Bar.”

People come from all over 727 and 813 to not just enjoy the night, but to represent their cause.  We met and spoke with different members of the Optimist Club who all serve a passion for optimism in both philosophical and civic terms.  Another patron of First Friday was there representing his fallen nephew, Sgt. Mike Rowe, who is said to have loved events like First Friday.

Some dressed up, some dressed down, others even dressed in costumes of giant beer bottles.  No matter what your attire, First Friday welcomes it all.  Make sure to free up your first Friday of every month to experience all the different flavors of the night.
