CLEARWATER, Fla. – Canvas Zoo, along with the City of Clearwater, is presenting a city wide open studio arts day on Saturday, April 18.
The day will include art demonstrations, open houses, classes, free food and beverages, performances and more throughout the day and into the evening. The Jolley Trolley will have a free route starting at the Clearwater Main Library at 4 p.m. that will travel to a number of Clearwater art galleries and studios until 8 p.m. so visitors can enjoy the festivities at each location. “For one day we want people to see all of the art that Clearwater has to offer,” said Jerri Menaul, organizer of the event.
Participants include: Clearwater Main Library, Clearwater Center for the Arts, Community Learning Center, Bronze Sculptor Nina Winters, Westfield Countryside Mall, Menaul Fine Art, Canvas Zoo, Vista Galleries, Art Tryst Gallery, Dance and Circus Arts of Tampa Bay, Studio 1212, Carole Rosefelt Studio 1403, Barbaro-Gould Foundation Art Center, Gallery 1356, Morton Plant Hospital and the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival.
The Destination Sound Orchestra and The Gas House Katz will entertain visitors with tunes from the 1950s and 60s at the Clearwater Main Library between 4 and 8 p.m. There will also be an acoustic guitar set on the rooftop terrace from 7 to 8 p.m.
Canvas Zoo has also been working with the City of Clearwater during the past year coordinating a series of art shows to celebrate the centennial titled “100 Plus Artists for 100 Plus Years.”
