It's always a good thing when companies and organizations step up and throw fun, entertaining parties that benefit good causes throughout the Tampa Bay community.  This is why we're excited to see something like the Kill The Lights / Save The Turtles Nocturtle Party presented by Naked Turtle Rum on the horizon.

Taking place this Saturday, April 27 at the Don Cesar on St Pete Beach, the Kill The Lights / Save The Turtles Party will provide a night of great drinks, entertainment, and more to benefit the Sea Turtle Conservancy and their efforts to provide darker shores for nesting turtles.

Why would we need darker shores for nesting turtles?  Well, after being born, baby sea turtles follow the brightest light, usually the moon, back to the ocean to eventually lead a long, healthy life in the sea.  But, fake lighting from bars, hotels, restaurants and more along the beach mess the baby turtles up and makes them head in the wrong direction.

This is why the Sea Turtle Conservancy and Naked Turtle Rum are partnering up with Kill The Lights / Save The Turtles, an effort to replace those lights along the beach with Amber LED lights, which are invisible to sea turtles and will easily help fix this common threat to the species.

The Kill The Lights / Save The Turtles Nocturtle Party will kick off the effort with a fun night at the Don Cesar featuring live music, delicious food, Naked Turtle Dark & Beachy cocktails, and tons of fun.  The party kicks off at 7 p.m. with free entry.  Limited to those 21 and older.
