Downtown St. Petersburg is definitely no stranger to a wide, eclectic variety of live music.  From tiny bars like The Emerald cranking out folk rock from the late 60's to huge venues like Jannus Live bringing in big-name, top 40 acts, it's quite apparent Downtown St. Petersburg is no stranger to the aural arts.

Upon hearing about the Helios Jazz Orchestra performing at Nova 535 on the third Tuesday of every month, we just love Downtown St. Petersburg and all the great music it provides just a little bit more.

Maybe we're assuming a little too much here, but it's probably not every day you get the chance to see an 18-piece, old time band of this caliber.  Don't be thrown off by the "orchestra" in the title either.  The Helios Jazz Orchestra plays music a far cry from the somber, baroque movements of Bach or Handel.

If you're a music fan of the toe-tapping, upbeat and soulful variety, checking out the Helios Jazz Orchestra at Nova 535 might just be worth your while.  This month's appearance happens on September 20 and features special guest singer, Sasha Tuck.

Head to the Helios Jazz Orchestra website here for videos of the group in action and the Nova 535 site here for more information on Helios Jazz Orchestra's September 20 appearance.

Nova 535 is a 7,000 square foot event and arts space in Downtown St. Petersburg playing home to their weekly Entrepreneur Social Club, a premier art gallery, and many private events in the area.
